Children's Shoot - Critz Farm

October, for the East Coast Artists, brought a chance for our younger members to shine. The folks over at Critz Farms in Cazenovia were kind enough to allow us to invade their property for part of the day. Hay bales, livestock, and pumpkins abound!

Alice in Wonderland | Themed Shoot

Often, when setting up a photo shoot, it helps to have a concrete idea in your head of who or what the subject is and what story you want to tell with that subject. This is where themed shoots come in handy. By setting a theme before hand, everyone involved is on the same page as to the mood and look of the shoot. Themes can be very general and open to interpretation such as "Horror" or "Alt Fashion"; or, as in one of our recent shoots, they can be very specific, like Alice in Wonderland.

This was a pretty popular shoot and the models had an absolute blast getting into character. Characters from the book included the Mad Hatter, the White Queen, the Red Queen, the Cheshire Cat, the Rabbit, and of course, Alice. Models included Keria, Morgan, Nikki, Alicia, Justice, Sydney & Hannah. Photographers were Kelly, John, Cathryn & Kami.

Now, as Alice herself said: "What is the use of a book without pictures or conversations?".

Old Hollywood Glamour

Inspired by the looks of Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Elizabeth Taylor, our group packed into the studio to recreate some of the looks (both fashion-inspired and lighting-inspired) of some of the old Hollywood stars. The key to this look, from a photographic point, is strong, harsh, side-lighting and a fairly strong hair light. Fashion-wise, this look calls for darker make-up, long eyelashes and probably most importantly - accessories!

Not only did the photographers nail this shoot, but the models stepped up and brought their A-Game. I think it helps that a lot of our models just suit this look from the get-go.

Make-up and hairstyling by Natasha Humbert. Models were Kortney, Morgan and Lisa. Photographers were Kelly, John and Cathryn.

Fall Fashion Photo Shoot | Apple Grove Farms, Mexico NY

We were recently given the opportunity of shooting at a (dare I say "picture"?) perfect Fall location - the Apple Grove Farm. An overcast day with a sprinkling of rain couldn't put a damper on this one. The location had tons to offer in the way of backgrounds and props - rows of apple trees, heavy with fruit; old tractors; apple crates; weather-beaten barns and even a playground.

The models (Morgan, Keria, Alicia, Aubrey & Lisa) arrived with a wide variety of looks. Everything from classy, fashion inspired to country casual was represented. Twilight Shoot...

Absolutely AMAZING "Twilight" shoot outdoors, at night back in July! Our team did a fantastic job and the models stayed in character throughout the shoot! This was a HUGE shoot for our group and also very challenging! We had extension cords, a fog machine, parents, spectators and studio strobes scattered all around the property and three seperate shooting areas set up for the photographers! It really was a lot of fun!

Our makeup artists, stylists, photographers and models all came together and worked their magic! A big thank you to everyone and especially our event coordinator Casey Schaap for finding us this awesome location for our shoot!

NEW Business Cards...

I just ordered our new business cards! Now when we are out creating amazing imagery during our group model shoots - we can share our cards! I'll be handing them out during Saturdays shoot at Salmon River Falls in Pulaski.

"Twilight" Shoot...

Tomorrow evening is our "Twilight" themed shoot in the woods - at night! Ah, yes I think we are all very excited for this one. It is going to be fun, challenging and our biggest group model shoot yet.

We have eleven models (male and female), eight photographers, one makeup artist and several stylists for this shoot. It is going to be just incredible and I cannot wait to see how it all comes together. It will truly be an entire team effort to pull this off.
